Track and Field Coach (2003-2008) Coach Green started at Holy Innocents’ in 2003 and his effect on track and field program was immediate. During his tenure with the program, he coached seventeen state champs in events such as the long jump, 100, 200, 800, 1600 and 3200 meters. In 2004, he guided the team to HIES’s first and only State Track and Field Championship - the title came in Double AA (which is a stronger division for Track & Field) and the Bears also won the Region Championship this same year. This has only been done twice in school history. In both 2006 and 2007 the Girls Track program placed 3rd in the state. This past May, he was inducted in the Gwinnett County Track & Field Hall of Fame. In Gwinnett he coached a future NCAA champ and had another who participated in two Olympic games. Besides his legendary track accomplishments, Coach Green also spent many years as an assistant coach in the football program; he was on staff in the beginning years of the HIES program where he helped get the Bears off to winning ways early.
