Class of 1996 (Swimming) Jamie started at HIES in 7thgrade and was the Valedictorian of the second graduating class in 1996. She received the Academic Award for having the highest GPA in almost every class, and also earned awards for leadership, scholastics, sportsmanship and was on Honor Roll all four years. In swimming, she was a part of the 200-meter relay team that finished fourth-in-state in 1996. She also helped HI take first in Class A, and eleventh in a field of 122 schools at state in 1998 against powerhouses such as Westminster, Chattahoochee, Parkview, Lovett, and Pace. She was the school’s first Academic All American. Jamie later attended Duke University, graduating cum laude in 2000 and earning four varsity letters in swimming. From 1998 to 2000, she was a member of a four, women record-setting medley relay teams, was a member of the ACC Honor Roll all four years of college, and captain of the Women’s Swim Team her senior year. She won the Coaches Award in 1997, and the MVP Award in 2000. Jamie continued her studies in Veterinary Medicine at Georgia, specializing in Small Animal Internal Medicine. She is now a veterinarian in Milwaukee; she married Tyler Klose - also a veterinarian.
