Khayla Pointer '17 was a four-year varsity basketball starter and helped lead the Golden Bears to four state championship games, netting 33 points in a state title win over Wesleyan School. Her impressive scoring stats earned her three HIES records: Top All-Time Steals with 393, Third All-Time Points with 1,481 and Third All-Time Assists with 455. Khayla went on to star at Louisiana State University, earning All-SEC honors and as well a place at the top of the LSU stat sheet in several categories. Khayla is the first HIES basketball alumnus to be drafted by either the NBA or WNBA, playing for the WNBA's Indiana Fever for the 2022 season. She continues to play professionally in the Spanish women's league.
