Â
Soccer: The girls' soccer team came away with a big 2-1 win at Alexander High School in the cold Friday night.

Avery Bradley, and
Paige Jacquin netted a long free kick to account for the scoring.
Â
In goal, Ella Metzner against came up big with several good saves while, in front of her, Alex Talbert and
Bev Benedict kept the Alexander strikers at bay.
Â
Things didn't go as well for the boys, as they suffered shutout losses to both Westminster and Pace. Still, several stepped up. In the Westminster effort, Bobby Spencer and Cooper Knowles were solid defensively,
Matthew Taylor and
Thomas Miller had good outings at center back, and
Mitchell Bainbridge and
Evan Wandtke played well offensively.
Â
Against Pace, Bainbridge and Jackson Mullins both had stellar performances.
Â
Track: The track team opened up Friday and Coach
Joseph Thomas saw some good efforts in the dual meet with Mt Vernon. Heat winners included Edie Coil and
Gavin Miles (1,600), Akeela Dover (100, 200, 400), Brayden Bailey (400), Xavier Smiley and
Cate Wassenaar (800), and

Â
The meet featured most running events and the shot put – the team will travel to Allatoona Wednesday for a full meet before spring break.Â
Â
Lacrosse: The girls' had a Family Day Saturday, with the MS, JV, and varsity all competing against Marist. The MS came away with a win, and though the JV and varsity did not, both coaches saw plenty of good things in the efforts.
Â
"I'm looking forward to all the good things this team can do," Coach Brittnee Devries said of her varsity.
Â
The boys will be in action Tuesday at home vs. Walker.Â
Â
In other spring sports: Varsity tennis will resume regular season Tuesday against Midtown at Piedmont Park, while the golf team got its practices underway last week and will open regular season soon.Â
