There's a very well-deserved momentum going on with the varsity boys' soccer team right now, and they rode the wave it created Friday night in a 1-0 first round state playoff win over Woodland High School on the road.
Our goal was scored by
Sairis Panah when he took a good pass from
Tucker Gleeson. Many more excelled, including
Preston Cate once again in goal, as well as Miller King,
Forbes Brown,
Alex Weir, and
Luca Schittone.
Stay tuned to this website for an update on the team's next game, time, and opponent.
Moving back a day, the girls' soccer squad had yet another episode of déjà vu all over again, as they mercy-ruled Woodland 10-0 on Wednesday. The scoring barrage included Ava McMasters (3),
Lilly Russell (2),
Olivia Hutcherson (2), Lauren Malsom (2), and
Maria Utz.
In the assists category,
Reese Martin had a season high four, while Hutcherson, Utz,
Grayson Roberts, and Clarisa Lander all added on each.
The girls will travel to Ringgold Wednesday to take on Heritage in the Sweet 16.
Also on Friday, both varsity lacrosse teams played and with mixed results. The boys edged Whitefield 10-9 on the road, while the girls lost a physical contest at Lovett.
Looking at the boys' standouts,
Jordan Alston and
Peter Fleming excelled on attack;
Patton Price speared the defense.
