The Holy Innocents' athletic department is happy to announce Patrick Ammons as the next head boys' lacrosse coach. He will take over for the legendary
Mike Thornton, who has grown the program to a state competitive level.
"I'm very excited to become a part of the great community that is Holy Innocents'," Patrick said. "Across the board during the interview process, it was easy and great to see the warmth that exists here. Obviously, I'm excited to get going with the lacrosse program, but I'm also eager to get into the classroom and help out any way I can."
Patrick comes in with a wealth of lacrosse playing and coaching experience. He was a four-year starter at Piedmont College in Demorest, where he was a two-way midfielder and once was featured on ESPN for a Top-10 Play.
After his collegiate stardom, he spent a year at Buford High School as an assistant before currently working his role as assistant at Cambridge High School, where he will be until the completion of this school year.
Besides the above, he is the Director of Thunder Select; he manages eight Thunder Select development lacrosse teams and their coaches and is still enjoying huge success in that role.
"It's a growing program," he added. "We had six programs in the fall and now it is eight. The Select teams are great for players who just want to develop and travel a bit less."
At Holy Innocents', Patrick is taking over a boys' program that just broke the school record for most wins in a season and furthest advancement into postseason (Elite 8). Besides his coaching duties, he will also serve as Middle School physical education teacher.
Welcome Patrick and best of luck!
