Pin! The Mat Bears hosted the Area Duals Saturday. Phillip Griffin wrestled well throughout the day… MS competed in Marietta Wednesday and faced Woodward and St. Pius last Thursday. In Marietta, top performances came from Wesley Logan, Mac Larson, Braxton Briles, Jack Mondell, and Mason McCarthy. Last week, victors included Chip Cummings, Ridge Hodson, Rhodes Wing, Logan, Mondell, Briles, William Peden, McCarthy, Dylan Lash, Shelton Balfour, Jack Mondelli, Anthony Poggi, Graham Horne, Cason Hall, and Daniel Rachelson. 
 
Splash! The Aqua Bear girls placed 1st at Georgia Tech Saturday among 18 teams and the boys second out of 17. Madeline Brown earned a state cut in the 100-free; Aidan O'Connor in the 200-free. Also, the girls' 200-medley relay team of Brown, Ellison Hroncich, Eliana Gerbi, and Lily Hudson also qualified. They also competed at Pace Wednesday, also with good results. Bobby Skyrnecki and Brown were two of the many standouts.  
 
Two points! Girls' hoops beat Therrell 73-24 Tuesday and Cartersville 61-35 last week. Against Therrell, Loriel Murray scored 18, Mackenzie Weaver 12, and Aaniyah Branch 10, while Makayla Weaver amassed 10 assists. In the Cartersville win, Murray (16 points, 13 rebounds), Elana McMasters (13 points), and Makenzie Weaver (9) led the stats …JV topped Villa Rica 59-36 Saturday, led by 28 points from Kimora Wynn and 11 from Melanie Parris …8th grade will face St. Pius Saturday…7th grade lost to Blessed Trinity Saturday.  Ayokunmi Iyanda and Mattie Treadway were the top scorers.  
 
Three points! Boys' hoops edged Therrell Tuesday. Devin Hutcherson had 25 points,11 rebounds, Jaden McCullough added 14 and five assists, and King Araujo netted 10…JV beat Therrell 62-56, backed by good play by Fisher Catone, Matthew Somersall, Bryce Floyd, Sawyer Dillon, and Will Ginsberg. Looking back, they lost to Villa Rica Saturday but topped Mt. Vernon 57-37 before that. Catone and Floyd starred vs. Villa Rica – Ellison Ely, Catone, and Floyd were key vs. Mt. Vernon …8th grade fell to Westminster 54-52 Saturday and to GAC last week…7th grade lost to Woodward Saturday and in OT to GAC last week. Holder Brinson scored 10 vs. Woodward; Brinson had 10 and Thomas McDavid 8 vs. GAC.
