ATLANTA, GA — Holy Innocents' Episcopal School will host the 8th Annual Holy Innocents' MLK Classic on Monday, January 19, bringing together some of the top high school basketball programs from across Georgia and beyond for a full day of elite competition honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The annual showcase will feature multiple state championship contenders and dozens of college prospects, with boys and girls varsity teams competing in high-level matchups throughout the day.

The Holy Innocents' MLK Classic has become one of the premier MLK Day basketball events in the Southeast, known for its competitive fields, outstanding sportsmanship, and commitment to celebrating excellence both on and off the court.

"This event continues to grow each year because of the quality of teams and the purpose behind it," said Tony Watkins, Director of Athletics at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School. "The MLK Classic provides student-athletes an opportunity to compete at a high level, gain exposure in front of college coaches, and honor Dr. King's legacy through teamwork, leadership, and service."

In addition to the on-court competition, the Holy Innocents' MLK Classic emphasizes service and education. The event will include a food drive in partnership with Hosea Feed the Hungry and Solidarity Sandy Springs, supporting families in need throughout the Atlanta community, as well as an MLK essay contest for participating students. Essay contest winners will receive scholarship awards, reinforcing the event's commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and service in honor of Dr. King's legacy.
