When you're a diver, you actually don't want to make a big splash, but after senior Trevor Sewell won the state championship Tuesday at Westminster, he'd made one regardless. 
 
Advancing to state three of the last four years – he was 11^th last year – this time Trevor sliced the water better than the rest with a total of 515 in his 12 dives. A competitor does six in the prelims and then six more in the finals.
 
"I was nervous, but after I made it to the finals, I settled down," Trevor said. "When I finally saw that I'd won it, I was shocked."
 
His results this year made him one of the favorites going in, as he kept topping his career best meet after meet. Still, moving up from 11^th a year ago to the top of the podium the next is huge in itself. 
 
His only year not qualifying was his freshman year, though he followed that by improving his results each year going forward. 
 
Congrats to Trevor, and now join us in cheering not only him on, but in the rest of the swimmers as the prelims are today in the swimming events, with the finals tomorrow (Thursday), all at Georgia Tech.
