The swim team opened with a big splash Wednesday afternoon/night down at Woodward – Coach
Kristina Nesbitt's squad placed second in both the girls' and boys' competition among three teams – Woodward and Ola were the other two.
"We swam great," Coach Nesbitt said. "Bobby Skyrnecki,
Marshall Camp, and
Madeline Brown just missed state cuts; we also just missed qualifying in the 200-medley and 200-free relays."
And more good news: Aidan O'Connor DID qualify for the boys in his second place finish in the 100-backstroke.
Here were the first place winners, staring with the three relays teams:
Juliana Federico,
Ella Ghirardi,
Madeline Brown, and
Lily Hudson touched first in both the girls' 200-medley and the 200-free relays, while the boys' 200-free squad of Camp, O'Connor, Matt Binney, and Skyrnecki also got it done.
Individually, Brown won both the 50- and the 100-free – the 50-free saw HIES go 1,2,3 with Hudson and Ghirardi right behind Brown. Henry Greene won the 200-free, Hudson the 100-free, and Ghirardi the 100-back.
Looking ahead, they will be in action again this Tuesday at Tucker in another multiple-team event.
