Over the weekend, the baseball team was pushed to a third and deciding game, boys' lacrosse was dominant in their state playoff victory, and a girls' lax comeback was thwarted by a last second bad bounce that ended their season. Below are the recaps:
Â
Boys' lax: In what Coach
Patrick Ammons referred to as a "great offensive effort across the board", eight different players scored in the 16-5 opening round victory over Hebron Christian Friday on Turf Field.Â
Â
Spearheading that charge were
Jordan Alston, who netted five goals, and
Noah Carlson who added four. At the other end,
Pierce Preston played well again in goal, while Dallas Strickland was a force in front of him in a big way.

Stay tuned to info on who, when, and where their playoff run continues.
Â
Girls' lax: It was a case of Holy Heartbreak for our girls in a 14-13 loss in Columbus Friday. Down 14-8 late, HI scored five unanswered and won the draw inside of 15 seconds. A last second shot, however, caromed wide as the final buzzer sounded. Still, yet another great season for our Lady Laxers.Â
Â
Baseball: The baseball Bears split Saturday, coming back from a 7-0 deficit to take the first game 10-7 before falling 6-3 in the nightcap. The clinching game will be Monday on our field.
Â
In the first game, HI notched five runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to get the victory. The Bears had nine hits, with
Zach Jackson doing the most damage going 2-for-3 with five RBI.
Braxton Padgett (2-for-2, with two scored and one driven in), and
Taylor Fuller (2-for-2 also with two runs and one RBI), also contributed, as did
Ian Graves,
Will Holland, and
Dylan Radaszewski with one hit each.
Â
Jack Fernandez picked up the win; he threw three innings and struck out three.
Â
In Game 2,
Chandler Ketchup, Jackson, Graves, and
Tucker Martin had our hits;
Tyler Malsom took the loss.Â
Â
Around the horn: Besides the above, both our tennis teams will be in Elite 8 action Monday – our girls will travel to Bainbridge while the boys will host LaGrange at Chastain Park. The golf teams will begin Area play Tuesday in hopes of punching its tickets to either Sectionals or State, while the track team will compete at Sectionals Saturday at Central Carrollton, with the top eight in each event advancing to state, slated the following week.Â
