Bears Weekly Roundup

Base hits! Softball swept Galloway in the first round of postseason. Asher Gleeson fanned nine in Game 1, while Callan McKay and Whitney Laundon were two of the many hitting stars. In Game 2, Charlie Smith pitched well, and the great team hitting was paced by Natalie Brown and Maya Shah. They will travel to Pace next week for the Round of 16.

Touchdown! Football (8-0) beat Wesleyan 42-7 Friday. Sam Chasteen, A.J. Donnelly (pic-6), Bennett Burroughs, and a Ryan Woods to Brayden Bailey pass accounted for the TDs. Mitchell Bainbridge added two field goals. Defensively, Bailey had an interception, Preston Massie and Phillip Griffin had sacks and many stepped up in the effort. They are off this weekend but will return to action Oct. 23rd to take on Kipp at Riverwood…JV lost 28-7 to Woodward last Thursday. Wesley Logan scored the only touchdown; Beckett Talbert and Bates Laughlin had long receptions.

Spike! Volleyball lost to Mt. Paran Tuesday, but swept Chamblee and Arabia Mountain by 2-0 scores last week. Leaders in the wins included Eva Connors (setting), and defensive specialists Vandy Neumeyer, Adair Weeks, Amzie Boulden, and Chandler Campos. They begin postseason play this Saturday at home.

Run! Cross country will return to regular season this weekend when they compete in Huntsville at John Allen Park. Ellison Losin, Beatrice Jones, Edie Coil, Laney Kate Miller, Harris Bradford, Bobby Spencer, Daniel Hill, and Brayden Briles have been some of the stars. Sectionals are slated Oct. 31st in Darlington, where the top 12 of the 24 teams will advance to state.

Until next time,
