Female Athlete of the Week

Senior cheerleading captain McVey Peden personifies spirit at HIES, not only when in front of the crowd leading the stunts, but wherever she goes on campus. Being a captain requires a lot – it involves teaching the dancing, choreography, and then some to the rest of the team. The positive evidence was on display this last weekend.

Male Athlete of the Week

Senior Preston "Sack" Massie lived up to his nickname and then some in Friday's 22-0 win over Lovett. Recovering a fumble early in the contest, he later tackled a player in the end zone for a safety. If that isn't enough, he also has a blocked punt to his credit during his tenure and remains a major force for the pesky HIES defensive unit.
