Stephen Jayaraj

Stephen  is  in  his  11th  year  at  HIES  and  is  starting  his  seventh  year  as  the  Head  Coach  in the  Track  &  Field  program.  During  this  time,  the  Track  &  Field  teams  have  had  their  best stretch  in  school  history.  Both  teams  are  shooting  for  the  podium  (Top  4  Teams)  this  May at  the  State  Meet.  In  addition,  the  Track  &  Field  program  has  had  at  least  one  Individual State  Champion  for  the  past  seven  years.  Look  for  the  Golden  Bears  to  contend  for  the Region/Area  Team  Championships  in  addition  to  setting  many  school  records  this Season.  Coach  Jayaraj  is  in  his  eighth  year  of  teaching  Religious  Studies  in  the  Upper School.  He  has  a  BA  in  History  and  Religion  from  Emory  University.  Before  moving  to Georgia,  he  was  the  Director  of  Cross  Country  and  Track  and  Field  at  Wolcott  High TRIM LINE TRACK  &  FIELD TRIM LINE   120 School  in  Wolcott,  CT  from  1996-2001.  He  has  running  PRs  of  4:18  for  the  Mile,  31:19 for  the  10K,  1:10:28  for  the  half  marathon  and  2:26:52  for  the  marathon.
