State champs! Girls' soccer captured the state title Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Wesleyan. Paige Jacquin had the goal, Marley Vaughn, Elana McMasters, and keeper Chelsea Pacheco were key defensively, and many stepped up. (See on-line stories for more). They advanced last week with a 4-3 win over GAC on the road in overtime. Sydney Williams scored twice; Beatrice Jones and Jacquin once each. Other stars included McMasters, Vaughn, Blair Huber, Morgan Bennett, Sophia Cardillo, and Parker McCallum.
More State Champs! Girls' tennis edged Mt. Bethel 3-2 in Rome Wednesday to also win state. Ellison Losin and the teams of Maddie Lawrence/Auldyn Patak and Hannah Johnson/Alessandra Georgiev won in doubles. Props also to singles aces Rylee Swain and Maia O'Leary for outstanding play, not only yesterday but all season.
And More State Champs! Boys' track also won state Wednesday – they were in Athens. Colt McNamara led the way with an individual title in the shot put and a second place showing in the discus. Other point scorers included Zion Tillis (2

rd).
Home run! Baseball will be in Final Four action today (Thursday) on the road against King's Ridge in a best two-of-three series, games slated for 4 and 7 p.m. HI looks to return to the state finals for the first time since its 2007 state title. They advanced last week with a sweep over Mt. Paran.
Fore! Both golf teams will tee it up Monday and Tuesday for the Class A-AAA Private State Meet, after winning their respective Area titles two weeks ago. Molly Spector, Brooke Benedict, Lucas Skaggs, Sammy Herd, Nicholas McKay, and Matt Binney have been just some of the stars going into the final two-day event.
