Our Holy Innocents' basketball program is used to being among the state's finest when the Atlanta Tipoff Club announces its postseason honorees, and the 2025-2026 season has proven to be no exception.
Â
After sweeping the Mr. and Mrs. Basketball last year with
Caleb Wilson and
Hailee Swain, this time around it is
Mario Mays taking the Garland Pinholster Metro-Atlanta Coach of the Year for the second straight season, while
Devin Hutcherson was named Second Team All-Metro and
Loriel Murray Honorable Mention All-Metro.
Â
Mays again led the Bears to another region title this year and, after a state championship last season, this time HI finished second in Georgia three weeks ago. The Bears finished the season at 26-4.
Â
As for Devin, he has been getting collegiate looks since his freshman season and recently signed with Kansas State. In his senior campaign, he was at the top of the stat charts in scoring and rebounding for Coach Mays. He finishes his high school hoops' career as a four-year starter and with several All-Region and All-State honors to go with the Tip Off Club listing.
Â
Loriel, only a sophomore, is a two year starter, also an All-Region performer, and again made a huge impact inside for the Bears and Coach
Nathan Teymer. She ended the year as one of the top scorers and rebounders and was a big reason for the girls' second-in-state finish after HI again won the region.
Â
Congrats to Coach Mays, Devin, Loriel, and all associated with the HI hoops' program.Â
