Coach Mario Mays joined Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in 2019 and was named head boys basketball coach in 2020.

During his time at HIES, Coach Mays has guided the program to a state championship in 2025, a state runner-up finish in 2024, and multiple region championships. He has also coached McDonald’s All-American Caleb Wilson during his tenure with the Golden Bears.

Prior to HIES, Coach Mays served as an assistant coach at Wheeler High School and Lakeview Academy, where he was part of state championship programs and helped develop multiple McDonald’s All-Americans.

When not on the court, Coach Mays enjoys spending time with his family and is grateful for the opportunity to work with and mentor student-athletes.
