Kara Santana

Kara Santana has served Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in two tenures, first from 2009–2013 and again since 2025, and currently serves as head athletic trainer overseeing sports medicine and athletic performance.

Santana brings more than 20 years of experience in sports medicine and athletic performance, supporting student-athletes across a wide range of programs. At HIES, she oversees comprehensive sports medicine services, injury prevention, and performance-based strength initiatives while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and educators to support the overall health of student-athletes.

Between her tenures at HIES, Santana served as director of sports medicine and athletic performance at Gilmour Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, where she built and enhanced sports medicine and strength programs. Her professional experience also includes work across collegiate, professional, and secondary school settings.

Santana holds a master’s degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University and is a Certified Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

When not working with student-athletes, Santana enjoys cooking and spending time with her family, including her twin boys.
