Clayton Schmitt

Coach Clayton Schmitt joined Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School during the 2014–15 school year and serves as head girls soccer coach.

During his time at HIES, Coach Schmitt has built one of the top programs in the state, leading the Golden Bears to a state championship and consistent deep playoff runs, including multiple Final Four appearances. His teams have developed numerous collegiate athletes, including players who have gone on to compete at the Power Five and professional levels. He was named United Soccer Coaches South Atlantic Coach of the Year in 2021.

In addition to his role at HIES, Coach Schmitt serves as associate head coach for Emory University men’s soccer, where he has been part of a national Final Four run and multiple conference championships. He also holds advanced coaching credentials through United Soccer Coaches and UEFA.

When not on the pitch, Coach Schmitt enjoys spending time with his cats, Slate and Steele.
