Nathan Teymer Named New Girls' Hoops Coach

New leader brings 26 years experience to HIES

Holy Innocents' is proud to announce that Nathan Teymer has been appointed the new head girls' basketball coach and assistant athletic director, officially beginning July 1st of this year.

Nathan brings 26 years of coaching experience with him that includes Coach of the Year honors three times and National Coach of the Year once.

"I'm very excited about this opportunity," Coach Teymer said. "I have a lot of respect not only for the girls' basketball and athletic programs, but for the school itself. During the interview process I just had a great feeling about the school, all the people I met, and the high caliber of student/athletes. I'm excited about getting on the campus and getting going."

Coach Teymer will replace Nichole Dixon, whose career here was more than impressive. She led the Bears to three state titles and deep playoff advancements every season. She also served as assistant athletic director; we wish her the best as she continues her hoops' and career success.

As for Coach Teymer, his most recent coaching experience was at Texas State University, where he was an associate head coach from 2022 to 2025 and helped guide the team to a co-conference regular season championship, as well as two postseason appearances.

He served as head women's coach at Augusta University before that, where he was twice named Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year and guided his team to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional final in 2016.

He was also Coach of the Year at Southern Polytechnic State University during his 2005-2010 tenure, where his 2009-10 team finished with a record of 30-5, advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NAIA Tournament, and Teymer was named NAIA National Coach of the Year. He also was inducted into the SPSU Athletic Hall of Fame in March of 2015.

He also served as assistant coaches at Shorter College in Rome and at Georgia Southwestern in Americus. He played at Grand View College in Iowa as a two-guard, was captain his senior year, and later became an assistant there as well.

All total, Coach Teymer brings experience and knowledge regarding all phases of a basketball program, from travel to game prep to coaching and beyond.

"I'm excited about getting my wife Phylicia and three-year-old son Ethan to Atlanta in a few months," he said. "Holy Innocents' is a special place, and I am excited to be a part of it."

He will begin his tenure this summer at HIES, where he will begin working with the student/athletes as well as with camps.

Please welcome Coach Teymer and his family to our community, we wish him the best, and – of course – Go Bears!
